Brittons Open Day is Huge Success

The Brittons Academy opened its doors last Saturday to prospective year 6 parents and students. Parents were treated to amazing speeches by students and Mrs Whiley and amazing spectacles by staff. Speaking about their experiences from opposite ends of the Brittons journey, Year 7 students talked about the warm welcome they had received and how they had made lots of friends despite not knowing many people when they started, then our Head Boy and Girl discussed how Brittons had given them the confidence to succeed and how our Head Girl has ‘learnt that things are only impossible if you make it, if you form a barrier, if you don’t try’. Mrs Whiley then outlined the school’s ‘Excellence in All We Do’ motto, exceptional pastoral provision and continually improving exam outcomes. She memorably called the Academy ‘a small school with a big heart’. Parents and students were then shown around the school by our year 11 prefect team; they, amongst many other things, saw Macbeth performed in English, sampled some pizza in Food Tech, built a photo frame in Technology and (for want of a more scientific explanation – sorry, Science Department) set fire to things in Science. They also had a chance to speak to our amazing and passionate staff about their subjects and life at the school. The Academy would like to thank all staff and parents who attended on Saturday for making it a very enjoyable and exciting day. We look forward to seeing lots of you in September. If you weren’t able to attend the morning but are interested in seeing the school (or if you did attend but would like to see the school again) please contact us about booking a tour.
